Hollis Taggart graduated from Washington & Lee University
in 1971 with degrees in Business Administration and Art
History. He attended law school from 1971-1974 at Tulane
University, and received his Juris Doctorate degree in
1974.
Hollis Taggart Galleries began in 1977, specializing in
nineteenth and early twentieth century American paintings.
The gallery was located in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown
neighborhood from 1983 to 1994, and has been in New York
City since 1994.
Hollis Taggart is a member of the Newark
Museum’s Friends of American Art, a Circle
member of the National
Gallery of Art, and a member of the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, the Whitney
Museum of American Art, the National
Academy of Design, and the Lotos Club.
