This exhibition is the first important large-scale showing in New York of Arthur B. Carles’ work since the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts’ 1983 retrospective, also curated by Barbara Wolanin, was shown at the National Academy of Design in 1984.

This milestone and celebratory exhibition includes twenty-eight of the most memorable and outstanding American paintings and sculpture we have placed throughout the years, spanning the Hudson River School to post-World War II modernism.
