Manierre Dawson (1887-1969)
Manierre Dawson: American Pioneer of Abstract Art (1887-1969)
October 1st - October 30th, 1999
This retrospective exhibition and accompanying catalogue provide the most comprehensive examination of this artist to date. With the presentation of some of his earliest works, including his masterpiece, the triptych entitled Prognostic, and never before exhibited sculpture, combined with the scholarly catalogue essays and the reprinting of the artist’s journal, we have sought to give Dawson’s work the intense scrutiny it has long deserved and bring recognition to this pioneer of Modernism.

Manierre Dawson
April 7th - May 7th, 2011
Hollis Taggart Galleries is delighted to announce the April 2011 release of Manierre Dawson (1887-1969): A Catalogue Raisonné, published by the Three Graces. To complement the catalogue raisonné’s publication, we are pleased to present an exhibition of more than twenty of Dawson’s paintings and sculptures, dating from 1905 to the 1950s. One of America’s first entirely abstract artists, Dawson created an inventive oeuvre defined by a pioneering approach to abstraction and a sophisticated palette.
