Eduard Steichen: Four paintings in Context

December 2nd - January 17th, 2004

Hollis Taggart Galleries is pleased to present four paintings by one of the twentieth century’s most seminal artistic figures, Eduard Steichen. Primarily known for his contribution to the field of photography, Steichen was also a gifted painter. The artist’s fateful decision in the early 1920s to destroy several decades-worth of easel paintings makes the four works on view an extraordinary, rare find - as the paintings that have survived until today are mostly found within the collections of notable museums.
