The collection of works draws the viewer in to seek out cool tones in the most uncommon of spaces.

Shades of Cool brings together 10 works that explore the balance between warmth and coolness across various 20th-century painters. Some of the artists, such as Richard Pousette-Dart and Conrad Marca-Relli, were contemporaries who led the Abstract Expressionist movement, while works by Rafael Soriano and Frank Diaz Escalet explore themes of emigration and its impact on the artist.

 

Curated by gallery staff member Sahana Srinivasan, the collection of works draws the viewer in to seek out cool tones in the most uncommon of spaces. Perhaps then, they will find something more.
