In She protec, Nora Ironic paints a scene of a nude woman cuddled up to a horse. All the features of the two are enhanced and exagerated, their bodies twisted in impossible ways to politely fit inside the frame of the painting. Though the image is quite intense in some ways—the horses large, black eyes; the woman’s twisted, red toes—there is a sense of comfort and happiness from the embrace and the smirk on the figure’s face. Ironic, an American artist born in 1993, evokes meme slang with the title, “She protec,” adding a layer of humor to the work.
