Jason Rosenfeld, Ph.D., is Distinguished Chair and Professor of Art History at Marymount Manhattan College, New York, and a Senior Writer and Editor-at-Large at The Brooklyn Rail. His present curatorial project is a traveling retrospective of the art of Andy Goldsworthy, originating at the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, Connecticut, in 2022 and then traveling to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh. He was curator of Ben Wilson: From Social Realism to Abstraction, at the George Segal Gallery, Montclair State University, New Jersey (2017); co-curator of the exhibition River Crossings at Cedar Grove, the Thomas Cole National Historical Site, in Catskill, New York, and Olana, in Hudson, New York (2015); co-curator of Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian Avant-Garde at Tate Britain, London, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow, the Mori Arts Center Gallery, Tokyo, and the Palazzo Chiablese, Turin (2012-2014); and co-curator of John Everett Millais at Tate Britain, the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, Fukuoka, and the Bunkamura Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2007-2008). He is the author of John Everett Millais (Phaidon, 2012).
Stephen Hannock is an American luminist painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and incendiary nocturnes. The artist has demonstrated a keen appreciation for the quality of light and for the limitations of conventional techniques for capturing it. His experiments with machine-polishing the surfaces of his paintings give a trademark luminous quality to his work. The larger vistas also incorporate diaristic text that weaves throughout the composition. His design of visual effects for the 1998 film What Dreams May Come won an Academy Award. His works are in collections worldwide, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The National Gallery of Art in Washington, and the Yale University Art Gallery. Hannock's painting of the Connecticut River Oxbow was chosen for inclusion in the recently published Metropolitan Museum of Art, Masterpiece Paintings. As well, Hannock and frequent collaborator Sting are the contemporary annex to the recent exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art entitled, Thomas Cole's Journey, Atlantic Crossings.
Tom McGlynn is an artist, writer, and independent curator based in the NYC area. His work is represented in many national and international collections including the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cooper- Hewitt National Design Museum of the Smithsonian. He has been a contributing writer to The Brooklyn Rail since 2012 where he, at present, is an Editor-at-Large. Currently a visiting lecturer at Parsons The New School for Design, McGlynn has also taught as an Assistant Professor at Castleton State College, Vermont, and also as a visiting lecturer at the Mason Gross School of Fine Arts at Rutgers University, NJ.
